TAI Welcomes Mary De Guzman to our Engineering Team

Mar 08, 2023

Trotter and Associates, Inc. welcomes Mary De Guzman as our newest water/wastewater team member. Mary recently graduated from The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, focusing on structural engineering and water resources.

Before coming to Trotter and Associates, Inc., Mary worked at the U.S Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory as a student contractor, where she participated in the Harmful Algal Bloom Interception, Treatment, and Transformation Systems (HABITATS) research. In addition, she performed routine water quality testing such as total phosphate, total nitrogen, and chemical oxygen demand levels in algae water through spectrometry. Mary was also an Undergraduate Research Assistant. She conducted materials research on cement and concrete through x-ray diffraction by applying inferential statistical techniques. In addition, she analyzed the effects of admixtures on the heat of hydration of cement using isothermal calorimetry.

While at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Mary also worked with the Engineers Without Boarders at their Ecuador Project, where they designed an efficient water distribution system that will give access to cleaner water for the seventy-eight families in the community of El Guarango, Ecuador. Mary’s passion for solving water and wastewater problems will make her a great addition to TAI.
