The $42.6 Million Phase 2A Rehabilitation project at the City of Batavia's WWTF is nearing completion, several months ahead of schedule and with less than 0.5% in change orders. After completing off-site utility and roadway replacement, bike path realignment, replacement of the process flow disinfection system, and rehabilitation of the final clarifiers, wastewater was completely transferred over to the brand-new Headworks and Primary Clarifiers in October 2025. This project’s success is a result of the outstanding dedication and collaboration of the General Contractor IHC, the City of Batavia Public Works staff, and our Trotter project representatives. We sincerely thank everyone for making this achievement possible!

The Village of Fox Lake and Trotter and Associates, Inc. have recently completed infrastructure improvements along Hillside Court, creating a safer and more dependable corridor for the community. The project involved building a soldier pile wall to replace a failing wall supporting the existing roadway, improving stormwater flow with rip-rap channels and drainage structures, and reconstructing the roadway using full-depth reclamation with concrete. This approach combined technical excellence with cost savings to provide long-term benefits for the community.

Concrete repairs are vital for preserving the integrity of existing structures and enhancing their service life. This was the main objective for the Structural Repairs Project at Fox River Water Reclamation District’s North and West facilities. To meet this objective, the Trotter structural team evaluated numerous buildings, tanks, and components at both facilities to develop a comprehensive repair plan. Repairs ranged from minor crack injection to full-depth concrete repairs, masonry repairs, and improvements to aluminum stairs and guardrails. Dahme Mechanical Industries (DMI) and its team of subcontractors, Manusos General Contracting, Bulley & Andrews, Alliance Concrete Sawing and Drilling, and A. Horn Inc., are wrapping up the final stages of the project. The remaining scope of work includes regrouting a Final Clarifier and extensive rehabilitation of a concrete structure that dates to the early 1950s. In addition to the structural components of this project, existing stop plates at the West Facility’s Chlorine Contact Tank were replaced with slide gates, improving operational efficiencies for District Staff. The DMI team effectively and efficiently installed all fourteen gates within a week, allowing District Staff to resume maintenance on their facilities in preparation for the disinfection season.

In 2019, Trotter and Associates was engaged by the City of Sycamore to complete a Water Master Plan, which identified the need for improved radium removal. The plan outlined several options to meet this need; ultimately, the City moved forward with using a hydrous manganese oxide (HMO) filtration system. This filter will be integrated into the existing water system at the City’s Well 7 site, which is installed within a new structure. In addition to the filter, this structure will also house the new chlorine feed, chemical feed/mixing, and electrical system, which are being replaced as part of the project. With the filter being delivered to the site in early July, construction of the project is on track to allow the facility to be operable by the Fall of 2024.
