Trotter and Associates, Inc. Introduces our 2023 Interns

Jun 29, 2023

Trotter and Associates, Inc. recognizes the importance of hands-on work experience for young professionals and the transformative power of a valuable internship in enhancing their skills. TAI is dedicated to offering internship opportunities to students pursuing civil and environmental engineering. This year, TAI has committed to providing internships to seven outstanding young engineers.

Ayme Aguilar is from Addison, Illinois, presently enrolled at Purdue University, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Her expected graduation date is May 2026. Ayme has gained valuable experience in her field by actively participating in various projects. Recently, she contributed to designing and modeling a pole storage unit for Habitat for Humanity warehouse workers. Additionally, she served as a Project Archivist, diligently documenting and presenting the team's work and progress.

Kimberlynn Bjurstrom is from Huntley, Illinois, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at Princeton University. She is expected to complete her degree in May 2026. She worked last summer as an Intern at the City of McHenry Public Works, where she collaborated with experienced technical personnel, gaining valuable on-site inspection experience in construction projects. Kimberlynn collected and entered data and assisted with graphical representations of civil and structural designs, gaining technical expertise in data interpretation and analysis.

Allie Bransky is from St. Charles, Illinois. She is entering her senior year at Purdue University, focusing on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Environmental & Ecological Engineering. In addition, Allie has chosen Anthropology as her minor field of study. Throughout her time at Purdue, she actively participated in the Women in Engineering Program: Mentees & Mentors, where she mentored two freshmen for an entire academic year. Furthermore, Allie is an active Society of Women Engineers member, contributing to their outreach program and inspiring young girls to pursue STEM majors.

Tom Maurer is from Carmel, Indiana, and is currently enrolled at Purdue University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Tom has actively engaged in various design projects. The most current project involved collaborating with Purdue University to examine the needs of end users and address the challenge of enabling the elderly to access elevated areas or handle heavy objects. Tom presently is President of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. They were recently recognized with a nomination for the prestigious 2022-2023 Chapter of the Year award.

Sead Sejdiu is from Sandwich, Illinois, and is entering his final year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Sead's main areas of interest revolve around Transportation (primary) and Construction Management (secondary). Throughout his internship, Sead had the valuable chance to observe and learn from TAI's Project Manager, Dustin Priebe, P.E. Currently, Dustin is heavily involved in the design and execution of the Fox Lake's Lakefront Park Project, specifically focusing on the development of new roadways. Sead also had the opportunity to visit the Holiday Hills project, where the transition from sanitary wells to sanitary sewers is taking place. Furthermore, he gained significant insights from the North Access Road project, where he is documenting the contractors' work while interacting with neighboring residents and business owners, thus broadening his knowledge and experience.

Trevor Tousana is from Batavia, Illinois, and is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His academic focus lies in Transportation Engineering and Construction Engineering/Management, and he is expected to graduate this December. Recently, Trevor served as a Project Team Member involved in designing a new intersection for the township of New Lenox. The project included meeting weekly with the industry sponsor and UIC facility advisor to discuss the latest reports and project updates. They also created technical reports to describe all the aspects of the project. Trevor's passion extends beyond academics, as he actively participates in Division 1 UIC Track and Field. He is the UIC Track Captain and has earned a spot in the UIC Track Top 10 All-Time records for Indoor & Outdoor 400m, Indoor and Outdoor 200m, and Indoor 300m events.

Will Wisniewski is a former intern who has rejoined our team. He is pursuing his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Will's academic focus at UIUC revolves around construction management, with a secondary emphasis on water resources. This year, he has been designated to work at our Lake Geneva Office, enabling him to develop a diverse set of engineering skills further.

While at Trotter and Associates, Inc., each intern is assigned to one of our project engineers, providing them with a chance to acquire hands-on experience and apply the knowledge acquired from their respective universities. TAI aims for these aspiring young professionals to develop a deeper understanding of their desired field by participating in the TAI Internship Program.
