Liz Heise will be presenting at the CSWEA Annual Meeting on her work with Global Water Stewardship (GWS). Each year, GWS works with the Costa Rican water and wastewater authority (AyA) to select a community for long-term partnership. This partnership includes development of a water resource recovery facility (WRRF) and collection system design through a student design competition, as well as guidance and training of the current water utility staff. In 2020, GWS partnered with collection of communities known as La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The planning area is composed of several smaller communities including La Fortuna, Zeta Trece, and Barrio Dora. These areas are mainly residential with a heavy dependence on tourism (hotels, restaurants and shops). The presentation will cover details of ongoing GWS project and activities within the Community of La Fortuna, Costa Rica, including success stories from projects throughout the Community.
