Irena Hix Joins TAI’s Water/Wastewater Team

Aug 18, 2022

TAI is excited to welcomes Irena Hix as the newest member of our Water/Wastewater Engineering Team.  Irena recently graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering.

At Colorado State, she was the project manager for the senior design project group. The project was focused on nutrient removal at a local wastewater treatment plant in Colorado Springs. The proposed design was developed using BioWin™ (a modeling software) to decrease the total nitrogen and phosphorus levels in the effluent. This project was required to allow the Colorado Springs facility to meet local regulatory limits, specifically Regulation 31 limits.

While at Colorado State, Irena traveled to Kenya, Africa where she worked with a team to identify and solve an issue with drinking water at a school. Irena and her team identified that the problem was due to the distribution system. The team replaced and tested of a portion of the watermain, solving the problem.

Since graduation, Irena has focused on stormwater management/drainage design work. Her goal is to enhance and grow her design skills with the help of TAI colleagues. TAI is excited to have her as part of the team!
